Hi. is it possible to use it in production? Are we allowed and is it stable enough? Tks |
| Hi, Sorry for the delay. Feel free to use it in production, the tool set it's complete and comparable to Ornatrix for 3ds Max and Maya. As for stability, Ornatrix for C4D is in a good state right now, of course there will be issues when using it in production but we are constantly working to improve Ornatrix in all platforms. At the moment the only nativelly supported renderer is Redshift, however we are working with other developers to expand the render support. In not yet supported renderers like Arnold and Octane you can render the hair as curves or polygons. Would be awesome if you can share here what you can do with Ornatrix C4D in a real production. | Tks Jeordanis.. I'm really excited to see Ornatrix working in C4D, on the small tests I've done I can alteady see how much it can take from the stability and consistency of C4D. We'll definety let you know of any project we do with it. is there any thing relating to functionality or stability that we need to consider before we start?
Tks |
| Hi Mario, is there any thing relating to functionality or stability that we need to consider before we start? Sure, there is still polishing to be done, you may find some rough edges but the team is working really hard and any bug found will be addressed as soon as possible. Please report any issue you can find and we will address it to make your experience smoother. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |
| Hi Jeordanis, we finally started using Ornatrix in production and it looks great. We had someone doing the grooming in Maya and then I've translated the scene into C4D, basically copied all the values. It pretty much worked but it doesn't look exactly the same. Looks like the values are not directly proportional. Is that correct? Are you aware of that? Another thing. We have 3 licenses that we use for Maya and it all works great when we render on the farm. But if I try this with the Beta it always asks for the license server name on all the nodes. That only should happen on the workstations right? We are using Deadline and C4D Command Line Render. Right> Maya; Left>C4D This is already with tweaks on the C4D side to look more like the Maya one. Tks! Attached Files: |
| How'd you get this rubberband type of hairstyle @MarioD |

| Hi Jeordanis, would be great if you could reply to my questions. Tks! |
| Hi Mario, I actually notice some differences between C4D and Maya as well, but it was with the hair interpolation. To test if is the same proble, turn OFF every operator above Hair From Guides and do the comparison again, please. About the licensing, you don't need additional licenses to render on a render farm. Just install the demo version on the render nodes. C4D is a different case because this is a beta and you only have one license as far as I know and there is not a demo version. If you really need to test this I can add 2 extra beta licenses for you, but have in mind that the beta is already closed and will end soon. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |
| Yes thats what I've noticed, straight away after generating the hair from tubes the result is different. I can send you the Maya file and the C4D file if you want. So you mean that I won't be able to use the render farm with C4D yet? That's very problematic as we will start rendering soon. I thought we could.... aaahhh! What's the alternative? |
| I added two more licenses to your account so you can render. To use the new licenses you may have to reinstall the license server. The licenses are temporary and as i said this will not be needed once the official release is out, you just have to install the demo. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |

| Jeordanis, we are having a big issue on our final renders. The licenses expired and we need to deliver. Is there a chance to exten them for a few days? tks!! Attached Files: |
| Sure, Done. Follow the same process as before if the licenses are not updated automatically. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |
