Nodes Issues with Custom Maps

Hi guys,

New repport today :-)

I have detected somes issues with custom drive maps in several nodes.

In "Frizz" node, putting a map in "Amount Multiplier" as just no effect.

Frizz

More over, there is a bug that I had ever detected some month ago in this "Frizz" node, but I have some difficulties to reproduce it.

Indeed, sometime, when I play with "outlier Fraction" and "outlier Amount", the global amount just stop to respond, even If I re-use the default values for "outlier Fraction" and "outlier Amount". In this case, the only solution I found is to delet the node and began again, and, sometime, It work again.

And in the "Surface Comb" node, the "Slope Multiplier" is just permanantly grey, whatever the options selected, it's impossible to put a map in it.

Slope

Did I do something wrong ?

In "Lenght" node, map multiplier work correctly, but when we reload them, the hairs are often not refreshed. We need to clear the map, deactivate the node, reactivate it and re-import the map. Sometime, C4D closure is needed.

Actually, I thik this is more a C4D limitation but, In case of, I prefere to warn you.

I can reproduce the issue with the Firzz modifier and the multiplier maps.

I cannot reproduce the issue with the Outlier parameters. Let me know if you encuenter it again and provide steps to reproduce it if possible.

I can see the problem wity the Slope Multiplier in the Surface Comb modifier.

Are you using 4K maps in the Length modifier? I remember there was an issue in C4D. It has problem reloading 4K maps on scene load. I don't remember if Maxon fixed it. Try a map with a lower resolution to see if ths is the same bug.

Thanks for your reply.

Good thing to know about 4K. I often observe this bug but didn't know it was especialy until 4K.

Concerning the "Outlier", I cannot reproduce it voluntarily too.

To be honest, I don't really know if it's was an issue or something that I missed in the way it work.

I read the doc serveral time but I think there is something is not clear in my mind, about the real fonction/difference between the "amount" and "outlier amount".

I thought that "amount" was the intensity, but "outlier amount" seams to do the same, sometime in an additive way, and sometime substractive ...

I will dig it again and leave you to your debuging occupation on multiplier maps :-)

The Amount value on top is the amount of Frizz. Outlier Fraction is the % of hairs that will be affected by Outlier Amount.

In this example I have to frizz amount set to 0, while playing with the outlier parameters, so you can see that they have an individual effect:
