In Ornatrix for Maya I was able to control the shadows cast by the hair. This control was in the attrribute manager in the options for FurBall1Shape. Is there an equivalent shadow control in Ornatrix for C4D? If so, where do I find it?

Yes, in the Display tag of the hair object your will find the options for Camera-Facing hair and Camera-Facing Normals.
