How can you use the strands groups as a mask to shade with either Arnold or redshift?

Probability masking is used when you want to drive the shading of the hairs with a mask rather than using a UV texture. For Example shading a goat or a reindeer. Is this possible with ornatrix?

You can use a Strand Group as a mask. To do that you need to convert it to a Stand Channel using Generate Strand Data (See the examples on this page) or just just all the strands that belong to this group and create a new strand channel. Use a UserData node in Arnold or Redsfhit to use the channel in the shading network.
