Simple Cartoon Feathers

Hi,

Theres a couple of things I'm not sure of, I've been following this tutorial for Maya (www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo0Tz-w9T2I), however I'm using C4D. I was wondering if you can please help?....

1. He mentions to lower the guide point count to get faster/better physics in "Guides from Mesh", however when I reduce to giude point count to 4 (instead of 10) I loose the shape of my simple feathers. How can I reduce the guide point count bu retain the shape smaooth of my feathers as if it was set to 10?

2. I was wondering how I "texture" the feather, I was wanting a simple gradient going from a dark colour at the root to a light colour at the tip?

3. I want to eventualy do a cartoon bird and rig it up for animation, would I genertae these feathers on my rigged base mesh or would I generate them on a seprate mesh and then deform that mesh to the rigged mesh?

Any help on process would be really appreciated, I've attached my very simple test if that helps. Ornatrix 2.3.7.30899 and C4d 26.107, I have C4D 2023 too but my purchased version of Ornatrix does load in that.

Cheers,
Jody
