UV tags are not generated for feathers

Hi there I am currently testing the V2 demo for a project involving feathers.

But it seems that the UV tags for the channels are not created and thus I can not create the texture for the single strands.

Is this a bug? Or am I missing something?

Hello,

I need more information. Or better, a simplified version of your scene so we can understand your setup. How are you creating the feathers exactly?

I can not post a scene because I am evaluating the demo, which does not allow saving.

Basically I am using the feather preset when you add the ornatrix hair object. that's it.

The online guide shows 2 UV tags that are created when you add 2 channels. 1 for the overall coloring and one for the feather alpha texture:

https://ephere.com/plugins/maxon/c4d/ornatrix/docs/2/Rendering_with_Redshift.html

These tags do not seem to be created when I follow your online guide.

Ah right, is a demo.

The feather presets uses Mesh from Strands to generate some polygon planes that you can later texture to give it the look of feathers. So the resulting groom is polygon. How do you intend to use the result? just so I have more context.

That being said. In C4D the UVs for Mesh from Strands are generated when you "export" the data from Mesh from Strands. In Mesh from Strands, UV Mapping tan, set how you want to generate the UVs, then click Export Polygon in the Object tab.

I am just trying to replicate what is in the docs on your website.
Thats how intend to use it (more or less)
color of feathers from basemesh. alpha from strand mesh.

The guide in the docs clearly shows UV tags on the ornatrix feathers object.

See below pic which is from your guide in the docs.

what you are saying is that I can only get the UVs when I export to mesh?

Oh, you are referring to the UVs of the hair object itself. Looks like a bug. I'm investigating and will be back when I have more details.
