I know it is still early in the dev cycle, but when I use Ornatrix it is sooo much slower than the internal C4D grooming tools as to be effectively unusable, I am sad to say. Using the exact same hair density (man's haircut) I get real time performance in Cinema, but disappearing data in Ornatrix. I can work with lower density, but it appears to be off by an order of magnitude. Ornatrix has better styling options, but how useful are they if they are this much slower? Is there any way to migrate from a C4D groom to an Ornatrix groom? When do you expect to work on performance issues? How much more performance can we expect to see? Thanks. |
| Thank you for the concern, we will evaluate what we can do to improve performance. It hasn't been our priority so far (instead prioritizing getting important features over to C4D for now). I suppose there needs to be a way of grabbing C4D guide curves and using Guides from Curves operator in Ornatrix on top of them to get the base object for Ox operator stack. | Thanks, Marsel, I appreciate the reply. I'm looking forward to the next few months... :D |
| Hi Jay, I've been testing and profiling our hair grooming, improved a little bit, and have some ideas on how to improve some more. But it would be good to understand your parameters when comparing with the native C4D hair. I created an identical C4D hair setup and our brushing seems to be faster. Can you send us a sample project, with the C4D and Ornatrix groom, so we ca compare and at least get to the same performance? Thaks, Roger |
| During the past weeks we made a lot of improvements on strands caching and drawing. Can you try if your workflow was improved? Those sample projects to compare would be good too. Roger |
| Hi jay, We just finished implementing the Hair From Curves groom. You can drop a native Cinema 4D hair object into the input curves of the Guides From Curves modifier and Ornatrix will import it's guides. Best, Roger |
| Hey, sorry I dropped off for awhile. Was on a long term killer project that I recently wrapped. Ready to get back into Ornatrix |
| Hi Jayroth, Roger have made a lot of performance improvements recently. Please try the latest nightly build. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |
| Agreed, performance has improved, thanks. Lots of bugs, still, however. |
| Please report any bugs you find. Roger and the team are working really hard and any bug found will be addressed immediately. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |
