Problem

Description:

When exporting hair objects to Alembic, only the ones created using guides from surface keep their animation when loaded as vrayProxy. The ones created using grounded strands remain static

Steps to Reproduce:

Create two spheres ("Sphere_Grounded" , "Sphere_Surface") and animate their positions

Create some splines and ground them to "Sphere_Grounded"

Create some guides using a Guides from surface modifier on "Sphere_Surface"

Select the Hair from "Sphere Grounded" and export selection as alembic, making sure to export animation.

Same procedure for hair from "Sphere_Surface"

Load both alembics as VrayProxies. Only the alembic file created form "Sphere_Surface" seems to keep its animation

Thank you for the report. I just tested this, however, and the animation seems to be going through OK. What are you using below ground strands in your modifier stack? Is it possible to upload or send me a sample scene of this? Also, which Ornatrix version did you try this on?

Hi Marsel, thanks for the support. There are no modifiers below the ground Strands modifier in the stack. We are using Ornatrix Version: 3.2.0 on Max 2015. Also, it might be worth mentioning that we are using Exocortex Alembic to transfer data.

Thank you for providing the scene, it helped. This bug will be fixed in next V4 beta build.
