Problem

Description:

Hello,

I have a animated mesh and I'm creating hairs from it via Hair from Mesh Strips. Everything works fine except two things

1) I'm always getting this warning to Listener

Ornatrix Warning: Hair::UpdateStrandTransformationsFromDistributionMesh() I don't have surface dependency info to work with

2) Everytime I try to export it to OxAlembic Max freez

I must use mesh with animated verticies instead of Alembic chache for generating hair besause it wont'open the scene anymore after close, only merge works.

I'm using Max 17 and Ox 5.0.9.10085

Please look at attached scene.

Thanks

Martin

Hi,

This warning if because when you create hair from mesh strips the hair is not grounded to a distribution mesh, but you don't need a distribution mesh in this case, so you can ignore this warning.

I will take a look to your second issue and will get back to you soon. Thanks for the report.

I try to give some time to the Max after it freez and it took cca 40 minutes to export. But the hair dont look so heavy to so long export time.

Hi Frodo,

Sorry for the delay. It takes so long because you are exporting hair instead of guides, also the amount of hair is quite big, you have 400 hairs per strips in your stest scene.

That is only 12 800 hairs that seem to me a pretty low value. In other project Im exporting 2 milion of hair and its faster. But its not via hair from strips but via guides from surface/hairs from guides.

You can try converting the hairs to guides with the Guides From Hair modifier.

Ok, I dont know about it. I will try it and let you know.

Thanks
