As the title says, i exported a baked hair via ornatrix alembic. Import the alembic - without picking a surface, everything renders fine, as soon as i pick a surface, vray crashes on "compiling geometry"... Any ideas? Because without this i can't port hair objects from a static obj to an animated one.

Hello, I cannot reproduce this issue, and I believe we already fixed something similar to this. Please try the latest nightly build available for V6: https://ephere.com/plugins/autodesk/max/ornatrix/downloads.html Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)

Tried it and same error occurs..... Right now it's a pain in the ass to transfer hair from a static mesh to an animated one. The only method that is workign right now requires a lot of steps.
Also, if i import a alembic file (same vertex count, etc), if i don't put an edit poly above before copying the hair, all the hair orientation gets fucked up. Why is this happening? Our rig and animation is coming from Houdini, and we hoped that the workflow with Ornatrix would be pretty simple, but so far it isn't...

Also, collapsing all the hair stack into a baked hair, and simply picking a duplicated version of the same mesh and reassigning the distribution surface to that mesh, the hair becomes completely different.... I don't get this to be honext, very frustrating...

Are you able to reproduce this on a new scene? If so, please share it here so we can take a look. I cannot reproduce it here, not even with old scenes. If you cannot reproduce it in a new scene, then we need astripped version of the problematic scene, if possible. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |
