Hi
I am using about 2mln hair. How can i optimize rendering when doing a very large scale grass surface with wind animation? Can i somehow bake the amount of strands with animation so it renders very fast?
If i was doing a super large landscape, can i bake the landscape grass parts and just place them in my scene so i could render even 100mln particles? how should i approach such a large scale grass project?

Hello,
Yes you can back out the animation on your hairs and get better performance this way. You could do this section by section or camera shot my camera shot. Such a big scene I would approch shot my shot for sure. Thanks Michael McCarthy

I went through the documentation and didnt find HOW to do it, how to bake hair patches and use them?
Also, how to optimize render setting in fast/accurate modes? I saw some numbers in binary space partitioning settings (inside Raytrace Fast render mode), but i dont know what any of the numbers in there mean... could someone explain these settings to me?

Hello,
You can use Strand Animation to bake out hair as one option https://www.ephere.com/plugins/autodesk/max/ornatrix/docs/1313.html
For render settings here is some info. Please let me know if there are any parameters in particular you need more info on https://www.ephere.com/plugins/autodesk/max/ornatrix/docs/1284.html
