Hi ! I have read in 2 different threads (Flat bilboards thickness & Body dynamics) about a special way to simulate hair collisions, using the cloth modifier. I've tried to use it but i must missed something in the process. Can anybody provide some help please? Here is what i do (last demo version used): adding some ornatrix hairs to a surface adding "strand from guides" on top of it to turn it to geometry (export guides mesh datas is also checked) Adding a cloth modifier, entering simulation parameters and simulate. Until now, all is working ok for me. The question is what i have to do after to use my cloth simulation with ornatrix? I can add a "guides from guides mesh" on top of my cloth simulation but how do i generate hairs ? What is that base surface I have to point to ? In any cases I got only more 3 OXmodifiers available after adding "guides from guides mesh" and none of them can create hairs...
Please help me because i'm really stuck and wanted to be sure to be able to use this functionnality before to buy Ornatrix... Thank you in advance

Hello,
Looks like you have the setup corrrect. The base surface should be the mesh that is used for growing the hairs. This is usually a refrenced or copied mesh that the hair object is linked to. After Guides from Guide Mesh you should add the Hair From Guides modifer.
Please feel free to post a simple scene that shows your setup and I can have a look to see any potential issues.

Hi Michael ! thank you for the very fast answer... You tell me: "After Guides from Guide Mesh you should add the Hair From Guides modifer." But how can i achieve this when only 3 0Xmodifiers still available after the Ox guides from guide Mesh is applied ?

Hi ! I still without the missing clues on how to achieve a cloth simulation and then back to hairs after... I have tried in all the ways but just can't figure out how to turn my "simulated" strands back into hairs (ox hair from guides still unavailable after adding a guides from guide mesh modifier). Did I miss something ? Am i doing something wrong ? Anyone can publish a detailed working workflow please? Adrianb1983 and flaviomac seems to have solved the problem: maybe they can share their knowledge ?
Thanks in advance ! | |

Looks like you have not checked "Export Guide Mesh Data" on Mesh from Strands. Try that and you should have it working AOK. Also you are simulating Hairs here. Which can be OK but its much more comon to simulate Guides. To do that just remove your Hair from Guides that is after Guides from Surface and then use Mesh from Guides.
Feel free to post a simple scene like this. Sometimes its the fastes way to get help as a screen cap or text discription does not always show everything going on :)

gonsolin, if im not mistaken i think you're not using flat billboards. Thats why when you place the ox guides from guide mesh mod nothing happens (you should be getting the guides). Hope it helps!
