I am baffled on how to do this as a new user. I have created the hair and would like to use in something like poser but I cant seem to find a way to export. I have tried to export the alembic but I have forgotten how to convert it in houdini. Too many loops. If anyone has any insight please let me know. | |

If your going to Houdini or another aplication like Poser. Alembic is your best bet. Ornatrix can also export as its own format but that is more for 3ds Max pipeline use. Here is some info on Alembic import in Houdini: http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini13.0/io/alembic Also here is our video on exporting to Alembic and importing into Maya: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wh3MexptTrI&list=PLpRi3ovyFM-2wLhel2eP8srgXBqfHkJ4C&index=7

Thanks for the info. At this point I have the hair back to editable spline. I am unsure how to get the hair into obj format that will show in poser. Poser does not have an option to import alembic. My guess now would be to get AutoDesk Maya. It seems to be the only option to be able to get hairs into simpler object formats that have polygons. If you know another method to get the hairs/splines into mesh form please feel free to enlighten me.

Sure, You can use the OX Mesh from Strands modifer https://www.ephere.com/plugins/autodesk/max/ornatrix/docs/3/Mesh_from_Strands_Modifier.html Thanks Michael |
