There's obvious difference in the modifiers. Is there a workflow or reason to be using either one in favour of the other? There a reason for 2 of these things?

Howdy Chris, The reason for the two is flexibility when creating clusters. Strand clustering relies on guides to cluster the hair around while with hair clustering clusters are built for hair and you can adjust how many etc. Hope that sheds some more light on it for you :) Thanks! Michael

Totally. This is broken out in the online documentation? Or did I miss something? Is the Documentation on line up to date?

Sure is. Docs are updated continually. Here are the two clustering topics: https://ephere.com/plugins/autodesk/max/ornatrix/docs/3/Guide_Clustering_Modifier.html https://ephere.com/plugins/autodesk/max/ornatrix/docs/3/Hair_Clustering_Modifier.html
Each talks about how it creates clusters (based on guides or based on generated hair clusters). Thanks Michael
