I am having issues with the Ox Strand Curling modifier. It seems to curl predominantly on one side of my characters head. The attached images illustrate the problem. One of the images shows the UVs of the scalp mesh I am using (if it matters). Please note that the curling occurs mostly on the one side of the hairstyle. As I change the parameters (i.e., phase, magnitude, phase offset, stretch, curl form, hair length dependency), the curling seems to adjust (and is exaggerated) mostly on that one side. For me, this is unusable. What could be causing this issue? Please also note that I have only Ox Guides From Surface, Ox Edit Guides and Ox Strand Curling. It is a pretty simple modifier stack. Any help is appreciated. |
Hello Jabba, I can see some addtional curling on one side but it does still seem to be curled on all hairs. I did not see the UV image you mentioned. It would be helpfull if you could post the scene. We can have a look then. Thanks Michael
Hi Michael, I appreciate your help. I have attached a stripped down archive of the scene. Please let me know what you think. Thanks
Hi Michael, Just to clarify... There is curling everywhere. However, there is way more on one side than the other. As well, when I change the curl parameters, they have a more significant effect on that more curly side. It is as if the curling is following some pattern that is more influenced on that one side. I included the UVs image, which is attached to my original post, thinking that it may have some influence on your curling algorithms. The UVs, however, are very simple and straight forward.
This is, no doubt, purely coincidental, but... Attached, you will find an image from your Ornatrix promotional video. It appears that the girl's hair suffers from the same issue I am having. In particular, her curls seem more wavy and pronounced on the one side of her head. Interestingly, it is the same side of the head I am having the problem. Attached Files:
Hi Michael, Am I to gather that the delay in response is attributed to an in depth review of the issue, and that a solution is forthcoming? Or, has this issue been dismissed?
Just got to look at it this morning. I think its just the Strand Deviation. If you turn this down to 0/off you should get uniform curl. Its there to give you variation in the curl. Thanks Michael
Hi Michael, You nailed it! The strand deviation was definitely the problem. Thanks.
