We are excited to announce the release of the new Ornatrix 3dsmax V9! It is more advanced, yet also more friendly than ever.

Advanced workflows like painting textures onto hair, braiding, direct clump manipulationsmoothly merging grooms, procedurally generating hair texture onto mesh approximation of the hair, and many more are now standard. Ornatrix is now also faster and prettier than ever with even more sensitive code migration to SIMD libraries and viewport display improvements.

  • Edit Guides
    • Brush textures allow painting textures directly on hair
    • Moved Edit Guides mode selection to its own rollout for better organization
    • Reordered Edit Guides rollouts for brushes in a more user-friendly configuration
    • New Edit Guides button icons for improved UI
    • Improved "current channel" combo box with tooltips, colors, and less verbosity
    • Channel selector replaced with better drop-down and "paint channel" button
    • Color box moved from paint brush to channel drop-down alongside channel value
    • Using color value when modifying color channels and spinner for greyscale ones
    • Show Channels map in Edit Guides object mode
    • Removed Edit Guides channel value spinner - color box now used for all channel types

    • GPU hair display - offloading viewport geometry calculation to the GPU for faster performance
    • Volumetric viewport hair shadows enabled by default with adjustable parameters
  • UI Improvements
    • About dialog converted to Qt
    • All global settings now in a separate Qt Settings dialog
    • Settings Reset to defaults button added
    • Icons for all Modify panel UI buttons

If you purchased Ornatrix 3dsmax V8 within past 6 months you have already received a free upgrade to V9. If that is not the case please reply to this email or contact us through our website.

For everyone else there is a 50% early-bird discount for perpetual licenses before October 1, 2025. The discount becomes 25% afterwards, We also provide monthly and yearly rental options.

Rental licenses automatically get a free upgrade. If you don't see V9 on your downloads page, please let us know.
