Problem

Description:

Hello,

I have referenced geo, in my specific case an animal rigged as well as with animations. I am working with Ornatrix and during the session, all work more or less accordingly. Preparing the guides, creating the hair, combing and brushing them incl. length, width, etc. Happy with the results and save them accordingly and have a good night sleep. Open the scene the next day and parts of the geo, in this specific case around the mouth and nose are exploded or let's say moved in space. The geo stays scattered no matter what I do (load, unload plugin, etc.).

This happened now twice in a row, I am at a stage where I am afraid of wasting any more time on it since I couldn't figure out what the issue could be. I would say that the model in both cases looked similar destroyed, means the same parts of the geo moved in space. I can perfectly load all other references stages w/o issues - it only happens in combination with Ornatrix.

To my knowledge, I call to remember that during the session (w/o closing Maya and the plugin) I could reload the scene. But after restarting Maya, Windows 7, etc. it looked messed up. I am using Maya 2019 and the latest stable Ornatrix version (19316).

Ever heard about the issue and an idea what I need to do to finally move forward.

Thanks,

Axel

Steps to Reproduce:

Hi Axel,

I´m not quite sure this have something to do with Ornatrix. One thing is if the hair itself is affected but I don´t see how Ornatrix could affect the geometry. Are you able to reproduce this consistently? Do you have steps to reproduce it?

Hi,

No not really. I will try once more to create a decent result and save accordingy, restart Maya/Ornatrix and will see what happen. But all in all it only happens when I create hair with Ornatrix. As said, all other references work well and since it happens now the second time in a row with Ornatrix only, wouln't know what else could cause the issue.

That's happening when I open it.

It must be Ornatrix. Within my scene I unload some references and at the point of where I wanted to load them again I got the error message from Ornatrix and the model looked even more destroyed around the mouth. Have a look - it is Ornatrix.

Hi Axel,

The Ornatrix error you are getting just means that SurfaceComb does not find a distribution mesh, which is needed for this operator to properly place the sinks you have drawn on the sfurace. This happens when you unload the reference. No reference = No distribution mesh for SurfaceComb to do its thing = Error. This does not affect your distribution mesh in any way.

But yes, anything is possible and I want to take a look anyway. Can you share the scene for testing? You can send it to nshtinkov (at)gmail and jeordanis.f (at) ephere.

Get it, still doesn't explain why the mesh get's destroyed even more. Without Ornatrix the mesh looks as it should be. I will share my scene with you but it cannot be distributed outside ephere.
