Problem

Description:

Tried to comb a hair style today and found the edit guide nodes missing many of its sub option tabs such as Brush etc.

I have found if I select the other Ornatrix tools in the attribute editor tabs (see image attached), when I then select the Edit Guides tab from within the Attribute editor, they load properly. But not when selected from within the Ornatrix stack window.

Steps to Reproduce:

I exported the scalp mesh as obj, opened in new scene and created new hair system. And the same issue happened.

Hi,

Looks like an instalation issue, can you try reinstalling Ox?

Hi,

Reinstalled (repair option), and still there.

Please try a clean install with the latest nightly build.

I cannot reproduce this issue. What Maya version are you guys using?

Hi,

for me its Win 10 Maya 2018 and Ornatrix  2.5.0.22523 [Latest Stable] (18 February). I have another isue that saved hair looks nothing like it when I reopen.

I recreated that isue with a simple sphere in new scene.

I'm now trying with Nightly Build 2.4.9.21924 (31 December 2019) to see if it resolves all the bugs I am having.

With the nightly build and a new sphere scene, guides and hair root positions remembered, upono reopen hair changes totally again. Sometimes the hair changes when I click remember root positions on the guides but not this drastically.

I have found the length node to become unresponsive when changing settings sometimes as well...

Finally I'm able to reproduce the issue with Edit Guides updates. We will address this asap.

However, I cannot reprodue the issue with guide deformations yet. You seem to be using an older build than me. Also the nightly builds are always more recent than the latest stable (If there are no issues bulding nightlies), you went from 2.5 to 2.4 Please try 2.5.1.22987 which is the latest stable right now. Let me know your results.

Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)

When you mentioned the try the latest nightly the 2.4 was the latest available, the download link was greyed out for the newer version for some reason. I have now tried the new release the just came out 2.5.1.22987 [Latest Stable] and I made another furball with all the nodes i used before, edit, comb, clump, frizz and length and reopned the scene afeter adding each node and it looked the same. sadly I lost the hairstyle i had made before as it never saved my work, but now does.

So its just the edit guides now to sort out the bug. I also noticed if you select a brush other than comb, it works the first click, but when you release the mouse button it automatically switches to comb. sometimes the icon does not update to relfect it sometimes it does. The bugs may all be connected.

Regards

Hi,

Not used Ornatrix in a while but have found in the latest build this edit guides bug has returned. Clicking another tab and back again works sometimes, so same 'workaround' as it was before this got fixed.

Only tested this in Maya 2018.7

OX V2.5.4.25492

hello. I'm having similar issues on when I close a file and re-open the hair changes and looks completely different. Hope I can have some help please

Is version 2 more stable? Feel like I'm chasing my tail with version 3

Hi GioChrono,

Try the latest nightly build from November. This behavior was removed to avoid this bug. It should not happen anymore. Sorry for the delay, I missed your last message.

Hi Bond,

Include Maya and Ox exact versions. We may need your scene for testing.

Hi Matt,

Please desctribe your issues with V3. Or even better, create a new post explaining every detail to keep this thread focused.

Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)

Will, try that too.

I tried a few versions and at one point the bug stopped happening on that scene. Will try latest build in the hope it doesnt return again.

Cheers

Would be strange if it happens because this mechanism was removed completely, but maybe is a different bug. Give it a try and let me know.

Hi Jeordanis,

sure. sent an email directly to you on Dec 9 with files. don't use OX, just maya 2020 and have issues using guides with ornatrix. thank you
