Problem

Description:

I'm having a problem where the hair viewport display is set to Legacy by default. I can switch it to GPU but 'Camera facing Normal/strands' does not work. I've seen someone else fix this issue by switchinbg to OpenGL, however my workplace doesn't allow for this. 

I also seem to have the problem that selecting clumps with the clump editing tool doesn't work. I'm wondering if this is related and there have been others with this issue?

Maya 2022.3, latest stable build

Hi,

This is actually not a bug, is by design. This feature is not implemented in DX11. Instead, OpenGL was used because it is multiplatform(Ornatrix is available on Windows, Max and Linux) and the performance will likely be the same compared to DX11 on Windows. Do you mind to share why this is not available in your workplace? If there is a specific scenario where this is needed for DX11 we will consider it for the next version.
