Title:Vray won't render Ornatrix hair from strips

Problem

Description:

I have Vray for Maya 2016, version 3.3 and the newest Ornatrix that is out, with the current nightly build. For some reason when I select mesh strips and hit add hair from mesh strips,  it seems to work. When I go to add the ornatrix render node and hit render, it gives me a render error. "//Error: There was a fatal error updating the scene at time 1.000000 for V-ray". When I delete the hair from mesh strip, it renders fine. If I just select the geo and hit 'Add hair to selection' it still renders fine. Only when creating hair from mesh strips, it gives me a fatal render error. Please help :(

Steps to Reproduce:

Create plane.

Select plane.

Hit "Add hair from mesh strips"

Hit "Add Render settings"

Select hair and add Vray hair mat 3

Render

Encounter immediate fatal error.

Any word on a solution for this? I've also randomly come this fatal error while just grooming hair added to a selection. It was rendering fine when I was adding different modifiers to it, but when I started to comb hair in a direction, and then try a render, it gave me the same error. I have no idea how to get rid of it besides revert back to an old scene. Not sure how to reproduce this one, not totally convinced combing and lengthing the hair was the cause.

I contacted Chaos Group for this, seems to be an issue inside VRay. Still awaiting a reply on that.

I've been talking with them recently (two days ago). They had a change in developers but I got through to the right one now. They said they're looking into it now. I'll post an update when I have an answer. Sorry for the hold up.

I think this was fixed in a recent VRay nightly. Do you have access to latest VRay builds?

I had not tried the latest nightly build, just downloaded the most stable. 

I have now downloaded the nightly build and it's still giving me the same error when i go through the same steps I listed above, :(

You're right, trying it here now I also can't render the mesh strips hair. Contacting Chaos again...

Why is this still an issue 4 months later? Saw the new build, came back to see if this issue was fixed, still isn't it. Still grounded on a project. This is super disappointing :|

The issue with hair strip rendering on VRay has been solved on October 14 and is available in latest VRay nightlies. I just verified it here that it works in 3.40.04. Next stable version of VRay Maya will have this fix as well.
