Problem

Description:

Hello

We are learning Ornatrix and we have few procedure questions

  1. Grooming stage: at the end of grooming when all it's approved, should I collaspe all the stack?
  2. If Yes. is it normal that my maya scene goes from 25megs to 650meg after the collaspe ?
  3. If no. Why I should not collaspe

a collaspe is not like a freeze history in maya. You collaspe in order to bake each work design that we have done in the Character, in order to inscrease the speed in the viewport or during rendering?

Tks a lot for your help

Steps to Reproduce:

Hi Christian,

You shouldn't need to collapse the whole stack. Instead try using the "Remember Roots" button inside Guides from Mesh operator and, optionally, in Hair from Guides operator (this one might also increase scene size). Also use Remember Clusters button inside Hair Clustering operator if you're using it. This will cache all randomly generated values to ensure that guides, hair, and clusters will stay consistent across machines (including render farm slaves). We will soon be introducing a single button to take care of all of this.

I imagine you are baking your operator stack to baked hair? If so, it is saving both viewport representation of hair as well as its render representation. If you have a very dense render hair model it will take significantly more memory to save with the scene.
