Hi Gustazo, We have observe this issue and we are looking into into. In the mean time, a work-arround is: 1) Change your distribution guides type and then return to the one you had selected. 2( Turn OFF some operator from top to bottom and turn them ON again one by one. Let me know if that help you. Best Regards, Jeordanis F. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Hi, I have the same issue. I have to unload and reload each node to "fix" this. Sometime it works, sometime no.
Hi, For now you can also try Remember Root Positions in GuidesFrommesh. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Hi, Remember Root Positions in HairFromGuidesNode does not resolve the exploding hair issue for us. Our current work-around: We put the hair in a file and then reference to it. Then we turn off and then on the HairFromGuidesNodes in the file containing the reference, and then save the file. Upon re-opening the file we don't have exploding hair. Downside is we have to do this for hundreds of files, And I fear we have to redo this every time we update/revise the hair. Please let me know as soon as Exploding Hair Issue has been resolved. Thanks!
HI Jake, We are working on it. Unfortunately this issue have been difficult to reproduce on my end, but I will give you news soon. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
| Hi Gus, I notice in your stack that you havent grounded the guides before the Edit Guides node. This maybe be the problem, you have to use a Ground Strands node before you begin editing the guides. I hope is not too late. From the devs: "As it stands now, EG (Edit Guides) uses local strand transforms to modify the guide shape. This is so that if the surface twists and turns so will the guide edits along with it. However, it also means that if the twist relative to the surface changes then EG changes will also be changed." | I just would like to say that we have the same issue here, reference file or not, reopening your scene with advanced grooming for tweaking distribution map or not, the EditGuidesShape nod just explose the haircut. THis is how i can barely fix the issue but not definitly : I disable all the modifier i have in the stack operator window, and then i disable and re-enable the EditGuidesShape node, several times (a lot). After i click on the MeshShape node in the operator windows, GuidesFromMeshNode. If i'm lucky enough, the curves get back to their correct positions. I know it's a bit tricky but it's the only solution i found so far. I'm on the build 1.1.7.9934 P.S: I tried to put a GroundStrand node but as Jeordanis said uppon me, but it was too late in the process. I groomed directly on the mesh and it's almost done. |
Digitaleyes, It would be possible for you to send me a scene where you are having this issue? we are looking forward to solve this issue but is very difficult for me to reproduce. I can give you my email and your content will be protected becuause I'm under NDA with Ephere. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Yes sure, that would be great. I let you giving me your email and i set up the maya project in a .rar for you. PS: This time, it seems that just removing several pixels on a distribution map is the cause of my explosing hair. I put back my old map and it's okay. But that is not fixing the issue i had with my curves the past few days when i oppened the maya scene. PSS: I use my time today at debugging the hair "boom" issue, and i think it's simply because of the distribution with bitmap who's not updated by Ornatrix or Maya. I have to force reload the map, even if last time i saved my scene it was already refreshed on that point. Maybe Maya or my build of Ornatrix has difficulties with bitmaps and refreshing, just me wondering.
My Email is: jeordanis.f@ephere.com Have in mind that if you change the guide distribution in any way after you groomed the hair in Edit Guides you will break the hair. You can change the Hair Distribution at any moment but the Guides distribution should remain the same once you started grooming. To be more clear, if you are using a distribution map in GuidesFromSurface and you change the map this can cause problems because you are reinterpolating the guides, instead use the distribution map in HairFromGuides. In the future, turn ON Remember Roots Positions in GuidesFromSurface after you are happy with the amount of guides and distribution, then you can add the EditGuides operator and start grooming, deleting and adding guides inside this operator. In my experience this is the cause of exploding hair problems in some cases and you can only see this effect after you reload the scene because Guides Distribution does not reflect this immediately. With Remember Roots Positions ON you shouln't have this issue. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
