| Hi Gus, I've been doing some test using 50,000 or more hair/guides and rendering with Renderman 21, but I was not able to reproduce this. I would like to know more information about your issue, it is possible for you to reproduce this issue with a simple sphere and share the scene here? Best Regards, Jeordanis F. | Thanks for getting back to me. Hmm thats interesting I've attached a scene that simulates my problem. Thanks for your help |
opps heres the attachment
Hi Gus, I was able to reproduce this issue using your scene, but I was not able to reproduce it in my own scene. We are looking into it, I will keep you updated. Best Regards, Jeordanis F. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Hey, Just wondering if there has been any news on this issue?
Hi Gus, Have you tried to render using the last version of Ornatrix? Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Gus, please try using the scene I included here and let me know if Maya still crash. Thanks. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Do you mean the latest version? If so yes I have tried the lastest version but unfortunatley doesnt fix my problem. I tried the scene you attached and it does seem to work.
| Hi Gus, This is why is hard to know the cause of this problem, the scene I provided yours for you but it have the same amount of hairs and objects as the scene you provided. This is really strange... This probably gonna be fixed in the next week, sorry for the delay. I will keep you update. Best Regards, Jeordanis Figuereo Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. | Hi Jeordanis, I tired using the latest update but unfortunaltley that didnt fix my problem. It seems 50,000 wasn't wasnt the root of the problem (although it does still crash at 50,000), It looks like maya only crashes when I try to render hair made CV curves. As I can render all other types. |
Hi Gus, We were able to reproduce this issue, but according with the devs this crash occurs somewhere in the Renderman plugin code on a stack overflow exception. We are in contact with Pixar and working to fix this problem. Thanks for the extra info. :) Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Hi Jeordanis, No problems, no to be pushy but I was wondering if there is ETA on a fix for this problem? Thanks
Hi Gus, Since this issue is not only related to Ox but Renderman I can't give you an stimate time yet, but I can assure you that we are working with Pixar to solve this ASAP. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Hi Gus, Just to follow up with you, this issue is going to be addressed this week by Renderman developers. Best of luck. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Just checking to see if there's any update on this. We're running into similar issues with crashing during a render of around 55,000 hairs in Renderman 21. Hair was created via CV curves like someone mentioned earlier.
We could reprduce this on our end, but the error (stack overflow) happens inside Renderman so it is outside of our reach. We are reaching out to Pixar over this, hopefully they'll be able to patch it up quickly. Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
