Description:

ornatrix version:  nightly_1.1.4.9542

vray build:

[2016/Dec/8|18:03:48] V-Ray: V-Ray core version is 3.25.01

When I try to create a hair system from poly stips, I get the following error:

// Warning: Ornatrix: Hair::UpdateStrandTransformationsFromDistributionMesh() I don't have surface dependency info to work with //

I see the hair system in the viewport just fine and all the modifiers, etc are updating in the view port, all the time, streaming the above error in the script editor.  When I try to render, I get big, fat tubes instead of nice, smooth, wispy hair.

Steps to Reproduce:

add render settings node

change radius in render settings

render with vray

Hi Kevin,

Confirmed, thanks for the report.

Regarding the surface dependency warning, this is because you are generating hair via HairFromMeshStrips node, since this node lacks surface dependency info, various operators in the stacks complain about that.   To avoid the warning, you just need to use a GroundStrands node after the HairFromMeshStrips, set the distribution mesh and then click on ground strands.

Kevin, Looks like this is a VRay issue only. Can you please try with the latest VRay build? Chaos Group said this issue is fixed in the latest build.

downloaded the 12.09.2016 VRay for Maya build, all is fixed.  Thank you.

Good to hear that.
