Problem

Description:

Hair from Mesh strips crashes Maya 2017 with latest builds. This is the first attempt I have made to use Ornatrix in Maya 2017 (used to use it in 2016). I reset the liscences and redownloaded the latest install to add it as a plugin in 2017. Then tried to create hair from mesh strips but it crashed every time I gave it a go.

Steps to Reproduce:

Mesh hair strips selected

In Ornatrix shelf, press the Hair from Mesh strips button

Computer crashes (see image screen capture)

Hi Emilie,

I just tried with build 12092 and it seems to be working fine, no crashes here. Are you getting any error or warning in the script editor before the crash?

P.S: You forgot to include the screen capture.

Re: screenshot, my appologies, looks like I forgot to press the upload button. I recreated the scenario and this time screen captured the script log and the output window as well. Could it simply be that my computer cannot convert that many mesh strips due to a limitation of RAM? Ive used this hair model before though and it seemed to work then.

I can give it a try in my computer if you want. You can send the scene to jeordanis.f@ephere.com.

Also, try with less hair and see what happens.

I tried it with a different, simpler hair structure. I got this message which might help (see attachment)

P.S. It did however create a hair system.

This error means that input mesh strip could be invalid/have incorrect faces, but this should not give you an error. Can I have at least the hair mesh to reproduce this?

Sure, how do I send it to you? Is there an email I can use?

Looks like I managed to get it to work. I reinstalled ornatrix... perhaps there was something that didnt install right. Im sorry to have taken up your time.

Oh, good to hear it's working now. No problem at all, we are here to help.
