which guide interpolation for production

Is there a good resource on interpolation settings because I've hit my head against this wall for a few days now.  I have a fairly high guide density, but i need to basically double or tripple it to get smooth grooms.
first mode, gives good outline, but super big chunks  of guides, second mode gives such heavy stepping in silhouette it's unusable, but internal clumps look ok, third setting is the best of both worlds, and smoothes out all guides, but introduces this weird striation on smooth parts of groom.

Any resources, and advice on final settings for production.

Also third guide mode, with remember root positions, makes the file size shoot up from 150megs to over a gig, not sure if that's working as intended or a glitch.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Kosta,

About interpolation, we are still working on the interpolation and improving it. For me what works best for human hairs is:

  • Guide Count: Interpolate Between Three Guides.
  • Guide Interpolation: Affine.
  • Guide Selection: N Closest Guides Interpolation

You can also try tweaking the Guide Area Circle parameter and a tight, pure black and white distribution map to reduce or avoid unnecessary interpolation.
