Hello, my Ornatrix installation didn't worked after I reinstalled Maya, the installation always rolling back while it copying file to computer.

I've tried the steps " https://ephere.com/plugins/autodesk/maya/ornatrix/docs/2/Installation_Problems.html#Sending-us-feedback" here and make sure the vs2015 is installed, my .NET version is 4.7.2, the Install.log file is attached.

Before reinstall ornatrix I've stopped and uninstalled the Ephere License Server , the  "Ephere License Server" service is no longer present in the Windows Services dialog.

Also I've tried to install the files manually, but it doesn't work as well...

can somebody helps me..? thank you!

My reinstalled Maya version are 2018.5 and 2019.1, operation system is windows7 64bit. and tested ornatrix version are"2.3.9.20057" and "2.4.0.20213".

Hello,

Thank you for all the information. We are looking into this. I will update this post once we find the issue.

This problem may occurs when you uninstall Maya and install a new version without uninstalling Ornatrix. Then the Ornatrix installer doesn't find the old installation. But we have to take a look into the log to make sure.

Thank you for replying!

Oh yes that's the problem, as you said I forgot to check the uninstall steps of Ornatrix until I found it can't be installed after my reinstallation of Maya, then I tried to delete all the files remained manually and release the licence from site,as well as cleaned the registry by using registry cleaning tools...

I try to install the previous version I used before uninstalling Maya, and it gives the message as you said:

The installer of Ornatrix for Maya doesn't require Maya to be installed when you uninstall Ornatrix. This is not the problem in your case.

The error in the log file is:

SFXCA: Failed to get requested CLR info. Error code 0x80131700
SFXCA: Ensure that the proper version of the .NET Framework is installed, or that there is a matching supportedRuntime element in CustomAction.config. If you are binding to .NET 4 or greater add useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy=true to the <startup> element.
CustomAction UpdateModule2018 returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)

There is something wrong with your .NET installation, I can't tell what exactly. I tried on a clean Windows 7 machine with just .NET 4.7.2 (similar to what you showed) and the installer worked fine.

I suggest you reinstall .NET, or run some cleaner app to check your system.

If you can't solve the .NET problem, you can install manually from the zip archive. You said that didn't work either, you'll have to provide more details.

Hello, thanks for the feedback!

I've also notice the error log about .NET 4.0 issue and tried to fix the .NET problem for days...

it seems like that Ornatrix's installer can only work with .NET4.0? ...(for example, you can have other greater version on the machine, but basically must have .NET4.0 installed first? )

in my case maybe some error occured while I uninstalling all of the .NET versions and install NET4.7.2
When I realized that the installation problem of Ornatrix might have sth to do with .NET4.0, I also tried to uninstall 4.7.2 and reinstall with 4.0,but it couldn't been installed as well...

I've tried all mothods of I can found to repaire my .NET environment, but the result is all other versions can be installed correctly, except 4.0 (the install log is also attached with this thread if it can make some help?) ...

I'm very concerned about how to do the If you are binding to .NET 4 or greater add useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy=true to the <startup> element. mentioned in the Install.log of Ornatrix...maybe that's the last way I could thought of...

----------------------

By the way the manually install results are also attached: when I ticked the options, it gives the red error prompt like the screenshot shows...(the Chinese character means "Error")

※Since my documents' path has been customized, I tried all the MAYA_MODULE_PATH as what Readme said, but the results are the same.

The custom action module of the Ornatrix installer does have the right .NET compatibility configuration, I've double-checked that.

And with that configuration you don't need to have exactly .NET 4.0 installed, .NET 4.5 and later is fully compatible with 4.0.

And as I said, I tested the installation on a clean Windows 7 VM which didn't have any .NET installed, and I just installed 4.7.2.

That's why I cannot see any problem in the installer, it looks more like some misconfiguration of your .NET. Maybe installing 4.0 and then removing it to install 4.5 caused the problem.

About the manual installation, what does the MEL command "getenv MAYA_MODULE_PATH" print in the Script Editor? Does it include "E:\Document\maya\modules"?

Please post here any details about the loading error from Script Editor, if there are any.

Thank you for the help and testing for these days and sorry for disturbing you so long time :)

Best wishes

P.S about the manual installation, the script's printed message is like the pic attached below, which including "E:\Document\maya\modules".

Yes, I'm afraid the .NET problem may require you to reinstall Windows.

OK, so the directory where you placed the files is correct. Next step, please run the MEL command "moduleInfo -lm" and see if "Ornatrix" is on the list.

If it's there, then the .mll won't load for some reason, please paste here the error(s) you get in Script Editor when you try to load the plugin. It's better to copy/paste the error text than make a screenshot.

I just downloaded the archive of the latest stable version, extracted it to my \Documents\maya\modules directory and it loaded successfully in Maya 2018.
