Define where the braid starts.

Hi there!

I'm using the braids gruid tool, and I've plugged it into a clump as a pattern clump.

All works fine but is there a way to delay the start of the braid?

My aim is to get this type of look from my braid. But with two braids, one on each side:

I've played around the phase and scale ramp on the BraidGuides Node and the amount on the Clump Node, sort of makes a lose braid at the base.

I saw there's a root blending position attribute on the Clump Node, under the Global clump pattern. It's somewhat helped abit but not much. The braid segments still intersect with eachother.

I had a go with using EditGuides Node ontop of the BraidsGuides, but no luck unless it's a matter of taking the time to groom them.

Unless it's intended to have another groom system on top to help the blend?

Or I'm having to create my own curves from a modeled braid?

I'm somewhat new to ornatrix, so it could just be me needing to spend more time with it.

And any general advice about how I could approach this style I'm aiming for would be great.

Thanks!

Hannah

Hi Hanna, Sorry for the delay.

SInce you are using the braid object as a clump pattern you should be able to get the result you want just using the Clump Amount ramp curve to reduce the clumping at the root. Let me know if this helps.
