Hello
Im having trouble figuring out how to get clumping to work properly.
I started by using the GuidesFromCurves workflow.
Added HairFromGuides and under it I added an Edit Guides node
Added a Distribution Multiplier map for HairFromGuides
In the Edit Guides Attributes -> Strand Groups I grouped my guides
Then I added the Clump node over the HairFromGuides node and Set the Clump Create Method to Guides
So far so good
I then added another Clump node to break up the previous clump (is this the proper method to do that? I know it is often done in xgen)
This Clump node I thought would beable to use the  Clump Create Method random but it didn"t in my case
With the same clump node I tried the Clumping Editing Tool but had the same results.  I tried  Guides and all the other methods and same results.
It looks as though the hairs are being affected by different guides.
what am I doing wrong here?

After posting i think the title is wrong but anyway...

I think i figured it out.
I have to input a strand group number in order to use the random Clump Create Method.
which means if i have 6 strand groups i need to have 6 clump nodes each with a different strand group number and set them all to random..

Hello,

If you understand correctly, you want to create big clumps based on the guides. Then create smaller, random clumps based on the big clumps, right? We call this "sub-clumping". For that you need to enable the clump index channel generation in the big clumps and then use that channel as a region map in the smaller clumps.

Hey Jeordanis
This is exactly what I needed! The other method I was doing was actually not working properly and the hairs would still move to the other side of the head.
Thanks again!

Glad I could help.

Also, if you are using parting, make sure to enable Respect Hair Parts on all the Clump nodes.
