I have tried everything to get some white cat fur using Ornatrix on Maya with the Redshift renderer. I am on Maya 2022.1, Redshift 3.0.50, and the latest Ornatrix as well. Whatever I do the best I can get is a grayish color.

I would appreciate any tips or tricks!

Thanks,
Greg

Hi,

This is what I got after a quick test:

The gray is probably the ambient occlusion and GI.

Make is thinner so it will bounce less light, create less AO, making it look more white:

Thanks Jeordanis! That worked. I believe it was that you set the Diffuse Translucency Weight to 1.0. I had tried just about everything else. Making the hair round and telling redshift not to let it cast shadows took away the last bit of darknesses.

I, like you showed, used the Redshift Hair Material. However, the Redshift PrincipledHair Material is newer and 2-3 times as fast to render. The parameters are different so I will give it a try and see if I can get the same great results!

Thanks, again,

Greg
