I am trying to follow the simple painting technique givne in this video on the Ornatrix for Maya documentation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n6k6ObE7X8&t=47s Something seems very wrong with my results. Here is a short animated gif of my screen as I do the steps in the video above. https://gyazo.com/93ffef45bcc6c3abc1d2b188e25d747f
Any suggestings for what I might be doing wrong? Seems like a pretty simple thing to not be working correctly.
I am on Maya 2022.1, using the new OCIO color management but have it set to Maya 2022 legacy ocio config.

Just a quick addition, above I am using Arnold but ultimately I will be using Redshift. I am trying to just get painting to work at all at this point. Greg | |

I did have Target Data Type set to Color. I now understand that Redshift does not support painting. However, it should work with Arnold, correct? I cannot even get it to work with Arnold. Nor, do I see the color in the view port? It would be good to get it working even with Arnold so I can understand then how I might move forward with Redshift. Thanks, Greg |
