Im trying to export my hair to Unreal and it seems to not be working.
I selected the top node of the hair stack and go to file Export selection Options > file type Ornatrix Alembic with default settings and Unreal Engine Export checked.
I dont get any warnings from Maya when exported but the file size is 2KB
When I try to import it into Unreal it fails and the output log just says it failed..

For my unreal settings I have groom and Alembic Groom Importer plugins installed and Support Compute Skin Cache on and Tick Animations on Skeletal Mesh checked aswell.

What am I doing wrong any help is much appreciated.

Hi,

What version of Ornatrix and Maya are you using?

Im using Ornatrix v3.2.8.28851 and Maya 2022.2

any updates?

So I tired using Maya 2018 Ornatrix v3.2.8.28851 which exported out a file more than 2KB.  When I import the ABCfile into Unreal4 i get an import error that states (Invalid. Some groups have 0 curves.)

The Stack looks like GuidesFromCurves > GroundStands> ChangeWidth>HairFromGuides  the HairFromGuides Distribution Type is set Guides as Hairs.  This is a test scene so its just a sphere and 2 curves that are used to make the hair.

I tested the FurBall method and it exports fine to unreal4 which suggests that creating hair using curves doesnt seems to not be working properly.

I hope to beable to use Maya 2022 because the hair is already made and I want to see what it looks like in Unreal but as I dont have a way of exporting the hair out I`ll be remaking it using the Furball method.
This isnt really what I want to do because I have curves that my client have sent me but as of right now it seems like I have no choice.

If there is a stable version of maya and ornatrix that most people are using please let me know as I dont know if things are a bug or if Im doing things incorrectly.

Anyway I hope this helps and to hear back from you soon.

Hi,

I tested and I can reproduce the issue. This only happens with hair generated from curves. The team is looking into it. This will probably be fixed for the next build.

Thanks Jeordanis when will the next build be do you think?

Fixed for build 29090+. It should be online in a day.
