I've played with the 3ds max demo enough to see the power, but I need to get the hair into ue4 using hair cards. I'm learning all this, so my undstanding may not be complete. My question is, I think it's more optimized to use hair cards in ue4 than the groom real time hair since my characters do not need hair physics...just good engough looking hair with good textures. Question is, is the alembic export used for real time hair or is it for hair cards too? Since I cannot save under demo, I cannot test beyond max, so I cannot determine what I would use to export hair cards. | |

Hi, The Ornatrix Alembic format is used to export the hair itself, not hair cards. When creating hair cards in Ornatrix you create them as polygon mesh, which you can then import into UE as .obj. Is a totally different workflow. This video may give you an insight of how it works. Maybe this one as well. You can test yourself with a trial version which you can request here.
