We are working on bird feathers using Onatrix Maya. There are some errors and technical issues during ass export - Data : Bird (feather) - Ornatrix Version : Maya 2024 Ornatirx - Issue type : batch Render(Renderfarm) & ass Export ass export issue When exporting Ass, there is a phenomenon where it appears differently from the original. The same issue occurs even when testing both the Expand Procdurals checked and unchecked versions. I attached the screen recording clip & images.

I have faiiled to reproduce this in a clean new scene. The shading also seems to be changing in your scene, besides the strands, so there most be something special in it that I'm missing in mine. Please try to reproduce this in a clean new scene and attach it here for testing. Meanwhile, try collapsing the stack(right click) before exporting the groom to .ass. Thank you for your sincere response. But we still have errors.

hello. The attached file is a sample file created by Onatrix. Currently, the groom file is extracted with a warning when exporting ass, but an error occurs when rendering. Attached Files: FeathersOnCurves.mb (158308 bytes), Ornatrix+scatter+Arnold+procedural+issue.pdf (19273 bytes), render.log (7924 bytes),

Thank you for the test scene, it revealed multiple issues, I'll let you know when they all get fixed. Ivan Kolev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.) E-mail: ivan.kolev at ephere dot com Discord: ikolev

All issues were fixed in revision 33734, a nightly build should hopefully be available by tomorrow. Fixing one of them however would mean changing the shape of hair in existing scenes, so we only enabled the fixed behavior for new scenes. To apply it to existing scenes, the 'version' attribute of the GuidesFromCurves operator needs to be set to 1, though this will change the shape of the hair (like any combing with Edit Guides will become irrelevant and will have to be redone). For example, for this test scene the following MEL command needs to be executed: setAttr GuidesFromCurves2.version 1 This will change the look of the feathers, but will make it match the image rendered by the Arnold procedural. Hello. Maya crashes when exporting in parallel mode. If "Cached Playback" is disabled in Parallel Mode, there is no crash issue. But we hope this problem is resolved. Also, in order to render with Arnold Procedural, do I have to export the groom file as a frame-by-frame sequence? It is pipeline-wise inefficient to have to extract sequence frame groom caches every time. Currently, Ornatrix arnold procedural is in the form of sequence frame groom caches. Is it possible to have Ornatrix arnold procedural = static groom caches + animation alembic cache? Like Xgen Arnold procedural. When there is a mask map in hairFromGuide and distributionType is even, prcedural render and noProcedural render are different.
Please check the attached datas.

I cannot reproduce any crash. By "export" do you mean rendering with the Arnold procedural? I tried both exporting to Alembic and rendering with the procedural. Maybe you can set up a simple example scene?
Yes, when rendering an animation, each frame is exported to a separate groom file, that's why the file name must contain the current frame time. When you provide your own groom file path in the 'Procedural Groom File' text box, use the # character to indicate where the frame time will be inserted. By default the groom file is exported to %TEMP%/OrnatrixArnold_<hair object name>.#.oxg.zip

We have tested this specifically in the past and it used to work. I'll check again with a simple scene when I get the time. Ivan Kolev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.) E-mail: ivan.kolev at ephere dot com Discord: ikolev

It works for me, both for transformation and deformation blur. I tested with an animated Gravity modifier applied to a default fur ball. You may have to prepare an example scene to send to me if it doesn't work for you.
