We will need your scene to investigate the issues.

Can you remove from the scene everything that is not related to the problems, save it as a Maya ASCII file, zip it and send it using our contact form at https://ephere.com/contact.html ?

Also please tell us your exact Ornatrix version and Maya version.

The Viewport count fraction is 1, but the render counter hair count is far higher than what is viewed in the viewport also when rendered. in the file attached
render count= 5797
viewport count fraction=1
what is observed in view and when rendered is less than 100 hair strands

Ornatrix version 4.2.5.35363

this situation is really bad, i had to stop working completely

Looking at the screenshot of the operator stack it looks like the groom graph may be broken somewhere but I need the scene to double check.

There are no hair objects in the provided scene.

The character is not the same as the one shown above. Perhaps you uploaded the wrong file. Please double check.
Also, please make sure to upload or send us a minimal version of the scene, including only the necesary objects to reproduce the issue.

Check This page for reference.

Recreated the "HairFromGuide" hair count issue with the scene uploaded.

Thank you for the scene but there are no hair objects in this scene. It looks similar to the previous scene.

By looking at your screenshot and your details above, makes me think that maybe you are either using a multiplier map in Hair from Guides to define where the hair roots should be distributed,
or you are generating the hair directly on a polygon selection. If so, this is not a bug. keep in mind that the Render Count is more like a multiplier value, it is not the actual root count that you will get, specially if you are filtering out strands using maps or polygon selection. So, feel free to keep increasing the Render Count value unil you are happy with how it looks.
You can check the exact root count by adding an Edit Guides node above Hair From Guides, look at the "Strands" value under the "Selection Mode" section in the Attribute Editor(With Edit Guides selected).

If I'm wrong and you are not filtering out the strands as I mentioned above, please provide the scene ready to reproduce the issue. Make sure to prepare the scene as described here.

True. i maped a texture into the distribution map of the HairFromGuide.

How else can i control where i want hair growth area with the root count matching ituitively?

Since Render Count is a multiplier it won't be an accurate number. perhaps we should rename this parameter to make that fact clear. To check the exact root amount so it as I explained above: Just add an Edit Guides node at the top and check the "Strands" field below the selection mode section. That number is accurate.
