Deleting guides created with GuidesFromMesh? And place new guides on that same mesh with PlantGuideTool?

Hi,

I gues I must be missing something here. I've created for example a simple sphere and added a furball on top of it.

This creates the GuidesFromMesh node at the base of the Ornatrix stack with an EditGuideShape on top of that. Say I want to delete all those created guides and plant custom guides on that mesh. There is no 'deleteGuide' brush in the EditGuidesShape. Also selecting the and hitting del doesn't seem to work. The guides do dissapear for a moment but return after updating stuff in the scene.

I've created a workaround by

* setting the root distribution to 0 in the GuidesFromMesh node

* planting guides with the EditGuidesNode

* adding a lenght operator to change lenght guides

* and then adding ANOTHER EditGuidesShape so I can style the custom guidies

Problem is that the CV count and lenght functionality from GuidesFromMesh is not working on the newly created planted guides. So that's why I have added a lenght node. But without enough CV's this not optimal. Also the DetailNode does not seem to affect the smoothness after a value 50. I gues that's due to the CV count.

I'm lost here.... attached the simple example Maya2017/Arnold scene

Cheers,

Marcus

it looks like if you hit the detatch roots button in the GuidesFromMeshNode you will clear out all of the guides and then you can create new guides. Then add your hair from guides and because you don't have anything from GuidesFromMesh to control the detail of your strands... add a detail mesh and it renders smoothly. (example in Vray)

also adjust your sampling on the detail node.
