I have several hundred curves and I select them all and create hair from guides. Since it parents the transform under the first curve how do I hide the guides whilst still seeing the hair system? How do I add more guides to this system? |
| aha - Add Input Curve button in the Guides from Curves node |
| When trying to ground the strands I get this error // Error: Ornatrix: Private\HairFromGuidesNode.cpp(938): Assert failed (7): ValidateDistributionMesh( data, DistributionMeshAttribute ) // // Warning: Ornatrix: Hair::UpdateStrandTransformationsFromDistributionMesh() I don't have surface dependency info to work with // |
| starting again from scratch I get this error when trying to ground the strands Ornatrix: Control [editGuidesOption_1] doesn't exist Ornatrix: Control [editGuidesOption_2] doesn't exist Ornatrix: Control [editGuidesOption_3] doesn't exist |
| The first error indicates that ground strands doesn't succeed in generating information from mesh surface. The second error is to do with Attribute Editor UI. Can you reproduce any of this starting from scratch and send me the steps and/or the scene? Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.) |
| the grounding issue has resolved itself. I haven't changed anything but I no longer have to re-ground the strands each time I open the file. It's a mystery. I am still getting that second error occasionally but it doesn't seem to be affecting anything. |
| I have the same 2nd error with a clean poly plane with eve quads and uvs and every time i move any sliders on Hair from mesh strips this warning appears: Ornatrix Warning: Hair::UpdateStrandTransformationsFromDistributionMesh() I don't have surface dependency info to work with

| Hi Poiuytrewq, I believe you can just ignore this warning when you are using Hair From Polygon Strips. You see this warning because maybe in your scene the hair is not grounded to a mesh and when the hair is generated from polygon strips, there's no surface that the hair grows from. You can use a Ground Strands node and set a distribution mesh. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |
