Hi, I just picked up a Ornatrix license,

Q:Are there any future plans to support Ornatrix for use in the Octane Render Maya Plugin?

Q: I plan on using the plugin in an unconvetional way to easily make transmapped polygon hair for characters (A few tests I did it seemed to work ok, also saw a video on Youtube of a guy demostrating how to do this), any plans to maybe better accomdate or advance a feature like this in the future? It would be really helpfull.

Thanks for your work...Jay

Hi,

Ox for Max already support Octane, we are in conversations with Otoy to add support in Maya too. We will let you now when its done.

About your other question, yes, we are always looking for ways to improve Ox, that's definitely something we want to improve. Thanks!

That's awesome, Octane support would be great!

Regarding polygon hair, your plugin definitely takes the tedious nature of placing polygon strips on the head of a character and allowing you to comb it and style it is a really great feature.

If Ephere decides to make this an extra more refined option for game designers or people like myself who need low poly strips of hair quickly and easily you have my vote! I have not seen any other plugins that makes polygon hair generation fast and easy.

Thanks again.

If I may throw a wild idea out there of a potential future option regarding polygon hair: Having an feature that somehow automatically applies UV's and hair texture transmaps of rendered hair directly to the polygon strips would be cool.

You could use texture image maps of hair by somehow integrating what the dynamic hair looks like when rendered normally with the plugin but would be technically polygon hair with the image maps of the rendered hair on it.

(Sorry I'm just an end user, and don't know the technicalities of doing somthing like that, but I know what I have been looking for in a plugin for my art work and productions)

 Thanks again

Thank you for you ideas. We will take a look into this! :)

Actually, Ornatrix generate UVs automatically. If you want UVs for polygon hair you only have to use the MeshFromStrands node, there you can choose the UV settings.
