Hi,

Is there a way to get a render in vray with hair texture from uv coordinats, without using MeshFromStrands ?

Looks like it first inherenting the uv, with MeshFromStands on when rendering.

But in the viewport i can see the texture currectly assigned whitout the modifier. and in render it is removed :/ Image attached.

Another thing, is there a solution to the displaying of the hair ? Looks like some of the shows the backside in the viewport.

Best regards

Simon

Hi Dunkan,

Are you using the VRayHairMtl shader?

Using Vray Mtl Hair 3 :D

Are you connecting your texture map to the Diffuse Color slot of the VRay Hair Shader?

Jeordanis Figuereo (Social Media Manager, Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)

Have tried in both Overall and Diffuse slot, together and separately. Do i have to assign it i some special way ? Right now i have selected the hair and assigned it that way.

I don't think you need any special steps to make it work. I just assigned a Vray Mtl Hair 3 to the hair and then I plugged a texture to the Diffuse slot and is working fine. See the attached images.

Wierd, i have done that all day :/ I have replicated the steps again, i just a ramp for this render. Have tried with images as well.

Looks like it only take one or two colors from the edge, and samples that for the rest.

Uploading the scene file, just to be sure.

Thank you for the help so far, and realy hope there is a solution to this problem.

Best regards

Hi, Dunkan!

Which version of Vray are you using? Ox had a problem with Vray 3.15 like your but it was fixed later in 3.40+.

Hi krikalev,

Thanks for the info, running the latest build of both ornatrix and vray.

i Will try an older version of vray tomorrow, I have already tryed the 04 nov release of ornateix with no luck.

I have just tried the v-ray 3.4.004 with the newest release and oldest possible version to download realsease 4oct. With no luck. How does my setup look at your guys ?

Have also tested it in maya 2016 same result.

Logikoma is it possible to get you test scene ?

Hi again,

Thank you, I was able to reproduce this problem. I'm not sure if the problem is on our end or with VRay, but I reported this to the devs for investigation. I will keep you posted.

Thanks :D

Realy hope it's a small bug and there is a quick solution :D

Hi Dunkan,

According to the devs this is not an Ornatrix related issue, but we are in contact with Chaos Group as we speak. Thank you again.

Jeordanis Figuereo (Social Media Manager, Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)

Awesome.

Thank you once more, looking forward to hearing from your guys again.

Hi guys,

Just wanted to hear if your got any news?

Sitting with a tight deadline, on the 23. dec. :/ Just hoping for the best.

Best Regards

Hi Dunkan,

Sorry for the late reply, this post was buried. This issue in on hands of Chaos Group since it is not Ornatrix related. They were able to reproduce this issue and they said it will be fixed soon. Let's hope is not too late.

Hi,

Unfortunately it's to late, we had to start over and go with xGen. To bad it's out of your hands, like your product and the way it work in a pipeline.

But thank you for all the help, and hope there will be a fix, so other people don't have the same issue.

Best regards.

Hi Dunkan,

I know is too late but just to confirm, I just tried again and this issue has been solved by Chaos Group. I tried with the build 27164 of V-Ray for Maya.

It seems like the problem has returned with Vray Next for Maya. Can you please report this to Chaos Group

Hey Jeordanis,

can you please check my file. I have deadlines that need to be met, I just want my groom to inherit the diffuse texture coming from my model. Even when I add a MeshFromStrand node, it doesn't work properly

Edit: Maybe it's not functioning properly because I'm using UDIMs?

Hi,

I received your email but you forgot to attach the files. It should work fine with UDIMs as well. Plase send me the files so I can look into it.

This is the result of my tests:

I'm attaching this scene so you can test it. Connect your own texture, render the scene and get back to me with the results.
