Issue with mesh form strands

Hi Guys!

 

I dont know why, but when I apply Mesh from strands this issues happens (add image), but if I turn it out the issue gones, do you guys know what I'm doing for this happen?

PS: I've tried turn of maya and open again, I've created a new scene, light is a Vray dome light (But I guess that it will happen with any light) but it still happen =Z

PS: with no texture, just a VrayMtl with a color

Try using a Random Distribution Type in the Hair From Guides operator.

I've used. I'm using default presets from hair from guides and it's random I guess like you can see in added pic

and when I turn off mesh from strands everything works fine =\ . however I need the mesh from strands to render texture with vray properly 

Confirmed, I was able to reproduce this issue, we are working on it. Thank you for the report. Regarding the texturing bug, can you try with the latest nightly build of V-Ray? maybe it is already fixed.

Yes, I do, I'm using the lastest nightly build of Vray (3.40.06), I'm waiting to hear from you about a the solution or a way to avoid this issue

Hi!

 

I tried with other render engine (maya softwate) and I had the same issue. but when I change the strand mesh type ( in mesh from strands) from flat ribbon strands to cilidrical strands I didn't get the same issue, but the time of render increase by 5 times. so I think the issue could be due the ribbon generations algorthim, becouse it is not using the surface comb directions. you can see at the pic below an example

What is the render engine do you advise me to use?, once with vray we have this issues that turns impossible to render with

A fix for this issue is in progress, but you can use Arnold in the mean time.

You can turn off Topology Based Orientation in HairFromGuides to get rid of this pattern.
