Hi Guys. I have a groom that I like. I've baked it down and assigned it to the same geo that is animated. I then add dynmaics to the stack above baked hair and record it. In the viewport it looks like dynamics are working but when I go to render the guides pop back out to their inital state and render at their initial state. When I go back to scrub the timeline the dynamics kick back in. Any ideas? |
Hi Bill, Can you please give me more information? What rendering engine are you using? What version of Maya and Ornatrix are you using? Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Thanks Jeordanis, Maya 2016 Ornatrix 1.1.4.9479 Vray 3.4
HI Bill, I Apologyze for the delay. I've been trying to reproduce this issue but it seems to be working fine here, however, I'm using Maya 2017 and Ornatrix 1.1.7.9934 [Latest Stable]. Do you think you can update Ornatrix and try again? Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Thanks Jeordanis, we've updated to 1.1.7.9934 and are still having the same problem. Any chance you can check out this simple scene file. It's baked hair w/ dynamics (recorded). When we go to render in vray the hair pops back to the inital state. Continued thanks Bill
Sure, thank you for the scene. I will take a look and get back to you as soon as I can. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
I was able to reproduce this issue but only using your scene, and indeed I get some strange results. I will keep looking into it, in the meantime, you can export the hair simulation cache to an .abc file and import it to your hair stack using the Animation Cache operator. I just tried this method in your scene and it works well, I was able to render the animation correctly. You can find more information in the link below: https://ephere.com/plugins/autodesk/maya/ornatrix/docs/1/Animation_Cache_Operator.html A short video tutorial is included. I hope this help but let me know if it doens't. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Thanks for your quick response Jeordanis. I think the issue arises when I transfer the hair to another geometry after it has been baked. In an ideal scenario I reference in the groom, bake it down and transfer it to my animated geo and then run the dynamics. Every time I try to run this test I get this result where it looks correctly in the viewport but renders incorrectly. If I don't transfer the groom to a new animated geo I think it works fine.
I think you can solve this using the method I explained above, but you can also try using a Ground Strands operador on top of the Baked Guides. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
