licenses no longer working after updating to the latest version

1: I loaded the latest version (8/29) since it noted that it works with maya 2018

2: The license was no longer available so the plugin would not load in maya 2017 or 2018. Not uncommon.  Often happens with an update but is usually fixed by rerunning the license installer

3: reran the license install - still does not work

4: I logged into the portal and released the licenses - no help.  then retried - did noit work

5: I downloaded the latest license sevre which seemed to be a .1.   I reran the license server.  It installed fine but licenses still not available. I see the license registered in the portal but it still will not load in maya - no license available

6: I hit the contact button to explain this. It tookthe email but I got a mesage back from yahoo that the email was rejected so this is the only forum to explain the issue

Hi Joseph,

I replied to you via email. sorry for the inconvenience. What operating systems are you using? Please verify if the license server is running in your task manager.

Thanks for the reply.  Here are the answers and further information

1: verified in local services the Ephere License Server is running
2: verified in task manage that Ephere.licenseServer is an active task

3:Windows 10 Home Edition version 1511 os build 10586.1045

Error from MAYA 2017 log

// Error: Ornatrix: D:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\cdf694efa24c5eef\Ephere\Plugins\Autodesk\Maya\Ornatrix\Plugins.cpp(583): Failed to initialize authorization //
// Error: line 1: No valid licenses to load the plugin (Ornatrix) //

Joseph, please run the license server manager and see what it gives you: https://ephere.com/docs/License_Server_Manager.html

It should display 1 ornatrix Maya license if everything is correct. Otherwise you might need to uninstall license server manually (https://ephere.com/docs/Uninstalling_License_Server.html), release the license, and then reinstall it (https://ephere.com/docs/Moving_Licenses_Between_Computers.html)

I see that you used the IP 192.168.0.5 when connecting to the license server. Are you running the license server on a separate computer from the one where Maya is running? If so, are you also connecting to the same IP when prompted in the license dialog in Maya? Have you tried installing it on the same machine as Maya? If it's not on a separate computer, please try running the license server manager on the same computer as where the license server is installed. Also please turn off any AntiVirus software as it has been known to cause issues with connections to the license server port.

1: the ip address noted is the address of the workstation.  the license server is on the same machine (192.168.0.5) as the worstation running maya.   The ip address for the audtodesk license server is different but not the license server for ephere

2: I have already tried disabling anti-virus (trend micro) and malwarebytes

I was fine on the older license sprogram and the release prior to 8/24.   Should I try to uninstall everything and use that version

Please try running the license server manager from the workstation (same machine where Ornatrix is installed). You should be connecting to 127.0.0.1

exact same results at  127.0.0.1 - 1 license expiring 2050

Ok, so that means that the license server is running at least. Other two questions:

  1. When did you first install the license server?
  2. Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling it from our server?

We did change licensing a bit at the beginning of the year so if the license server wasn't updated since then it could be the problem.

1: I originally was using InstallLicense.343420342039333939.all.exe.  That was what I used up to the 8/24 and it always worked even when I had to rerun it with new updates

2:I intalled the 8/24 version of onatrix the licensing issue arose.  All the tasks I normally do didnot work,.   SO I released all licenses tried again. Still didnot work

3: I assumed then that there might be a requirement for a new license server withthe nerw version so I downloaded and ran InstallLicense.343420342039333939.1.exe

4: I am not sure what is meant by running from your server.  I do not see that option.  When I go to dowloads I can download the software and the section that says license server only.

5: I don;t see any option onthe account/client section other than releasing licenses which of course I did and then retired

6: I guess I can release the licenses agains and then retry again - I am not sure when I released and retired what lolceinse server I used when relicensing

I released the licensxe again and re-ran the license server.  It says when it run it is download from ephere.  I can see that it registered the license again but the same issue in maya exact same error messages

Ok, that is strange. I am traveling tonight and tomorrow. Perhaps afterwards we can se tup a Teamviewer session so I can resolve this for you?

Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)

ok

thank you for all the effort.   This is my home machine so setting up a time will be a challenge but I will try a few things myself and then update the ticket to a time you have avaialable for review if I cannot resolve it.   I take it from the comments you looked aat the account and found evreything ok there so it is definitely something local on the machine (not for example maya not able to connext to ephere when I try to get the license)

I manually deinstalled the latest version of the application from 8/24 and then downloaded and installed the prior version (from 8/10 1.3.0.11927).  I kept the latest license server. that solved the problem on both maya 2017 and 2018

Strange that the old build would work since no changes were done to licensing in the new one. Can you please try to reinstall the latest version to see if the licensing issue indeed comes back with it?
