Can anyone share some links to how Distribution Maps work within the latest builds of Ornatrix? I have searched and found only one person who has used them and I cannot get it to distribute properly from the map I created. Does anyone have documentation on this process? Thanks for the help! |
| Hi, Distribution maps works the same in all versions. Can you describe your problem? Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |
| Hello Jeordanis - thank you for responding so fast. I have a map with black and white values for hair distribution growth in the distribution map field, but my guides are all chaotic across the mesh not at all matching the values of my map. Am I doing something wrong? I just was wondering if anyone has documented how to use this method vs a geometric skull cap for hair growth. I have also never used these before in any hair program, so my experience with this is very little. If I am doing this wrong, please let me know. Thank you for all your help. Attached Files: |
| Hi, Are you trying to grow hair on the scalp or the face? If you want hair on the scalp you have to invert the colors of the map. Use White in the areas you WANT hair and Black on the areas where you DON'T want hair. Then decrease the length of the guides and use a uniform distribution method if you want. | Jeordanis - reversing the map totally worked! Thank you. I have a question regarding distribution method: am I limited to only using the "Guides as Hair" distribution type? When I try others they have hair distributed across the whole mesh. Also when I try to increase hair count, it limits it only to one hair strand per guide, is this correct? Please see the attached images for some clarity. Thank you. Attached Files: |
| Should not work like that, you should be free to use any distribution map. Can you share the scene? Maybe I can find out what is wrong. If so, please send it to jeordanis.f@ephere.com. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |
| Thank you for the scene. You just have to plug the distribution map (head_04_DM.png) into the Distribution Multiplier slot in HairFromGuides as well. Then you will be able to use any distribution type without any issues. See the attached gif: Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |
| Ah Thank you Jeordanis! It was the missing step for me! One other question, if I am creating grooms for blendshaped heads using the distribution map, the hair should come along for the ride according to the mesh that it is parented under yes? This is a huge help, thank you again. |
| Hey, sorry for the delay. Yes, if your distribution mesh have a blendshape the hair should follow along with the blendshape. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |
