has anyone figured out the scattering workflow.... and how to attach object to makea tree for example?

Hi Andy,

Are we talking about guide propagation with the Propagation operator? You can find a tutorial here. It is for 3dsmax but you can apply the same steps on Maya.

these guys... propagate works well enough.. but what is the "scatter" node.  no workflow ref in the docs.  :)

Oh You mean that operator. There's no info about this operator because it is still in development. I'm planning to make a little demo later but basically:

Create a feather using the Propagation operator,

Create another hair object (On the object you want to propagate the feathers) and add the Scatter operator on top of the stack,

In the Scatter operator click Add Reference Strands and pick the feather you created before. Done. Now you can scatter this feather using Guides From Surface or Guides From Mesh.

But again, this operator is still on development and needs a lot of improvements.
