Description: | Hello! Would it be possible to create a command to export selected guides from one groom and import them in into another groom, perhaps a copy paste in the "Edit Strands Mode"?. At the moment I need more than one groom on one of my meshes, however, I have already created and combed guies on my first groom. So I would like to be able to break the two areas apart.

PS. The duplicate by group works awesomely! |

Hey, Right now there are three ways to do this. First method: 1) Using the Merge operator to merge the guides of one hair object into another. Documentation Here.
Second method: 1) Collapsing the guides of the first object 2) Exporting an Ornatrix Alembic file 3) Create a new hair object on another mesh and collapse the whole hair stack as well. A bakedHair operator will be created. 4) In BakedHair operator load the previously exported Ox Alembic file. Docucmentation HERE.
Third method: 1) Add Curves From Strands operator to convert the guides into curves 2) In the second groom add Edit Guides 3) Use the Import Multiple function to import all the converted curves from the first groom. Documentation HERE.
I'd prefer the first method because is simpler and both hair objecs will still be connected. Meaning that changse made to the original will affect the copy.
Edit: After reading your post a second time I'm not sure if you want to reuse the guides of one groom into another or create multiple grooms in the same mesh but covering different areas. Please clarify. :) Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |
