Hello.

In Ornatrix versions 2 you introduced a very usefull option when we work with Redshift, which name is "Use Render Count", and which allow to reduce the visible hairs in viewport but compute the max number chosen at render time.

But it just disappear from "Hair from guides layer" in the latest update ...

Old Ornatrix version :

Last Ornatrix version :

New Version

Is it somewhere else ?

I enjoy this thread to highlight that this same option will be usefull in ornatrix alembic loader ;-)

Hi,

Thank you for reporting this. We will fix it asap.

I agree about implementing this feature in the BakedHair modifier as well. Good idea.

This parameter is now located in the Display tag of the hair object. Is called "Force Render Mode Evaluation".

I saw It, but actually, it doesn't do the same.

The old option was awsome because it allowed to keep the navigation in the viewport very light and fluid, by displaying only a fraction of the maximum number, and compute this maximum at render time.

Normal

The new option just bypass the vibility amount and rise it to the maximum.

That mean before I could display 1000 hairs on 1 000 000, and render these 1 000 000, and now, If I check the new option, It force the 1 000 000 to be compute AND displayed ...

I don't understand for what king of thing we could use it actualy ...

Force

A bit hiden option by the way ...

You are right. I'm a bit confused as well because I didn't get to test this feature. I'm discussing this with the team to get some clarifications. I will get back you later.

Great !

Thank you :-)

so?

This feature was re-implemented and added to the Evaluation tab in the Display tag of the hair object. Tutorial here. In the video Redshift is used but it applies to any supported renderer.
