Hi there, I'm having serious problem with Distributed Render with Vray. My Vray version is 2.4 and ornatrix version is 2.2.5.0 I had hair differences in render buckets for each seperate computer. (3 PC's) I was able to reproduce the problem in a fresh scene. I'attached my scene file and my render results regarding DR render.
I also attached DR render node render pass that I rendered in vray render elements.
I tried to solve this by adding OX mesh from strands modifier. But also it didnt work as well. While you're trying my scene please turn off the mesh from strands modifier. I'm trying to render the file with 3 PC's all software versions are identical. (doublechecked) All three work on win7x64. 1xi5 1xi7 and 1x Xeon cpu's I don't think this is a Vray related problem. The differences are the way hair strands are produces. They point to different directions. Please jump back and forth between those 2 renders you'll spot the differences immidiately. I have a big job at hand and I have to finish this week. So any help or workaround would be great. I have to use the DR because it's going to be a massive sized render for print work. Please help,
Best, Oguz

This is likely because the hairs are generated differetnly on every machine depending on what type of hair and guide generation you are using. Try using the Remember button in Guides from Surface and Hair From Guides. This will be sure the same generator is used on each machine.
1. Press the Remember button 2. Do a render locally so tha the hair is generated 3. You should be all set to go to the farm full frame or with DR

Hey, I am sorry for rectifying this thread from stone age but i just need to say THANK YOU!!! This should be on every page, (Remember to use remember roots) :) i thought i was going mad. If it's possible to add reminder or warning or have this as separate modifier that would be great. Thanks Michael you have one free beer from me. Take care, Ivan

I was having the same problem. Michael, I will try the solution you proposed, but it seems cumbersome to have to render the hair locally everytime you want to submit it to a farm. Is it a one and done thing stored in the files cache, or will I have to render locally everytime I submit renders to a renderfarm? When rendering locally beforehand, does quality matter? Like, can I downrez the local render to like 1x1 pixels with no anti-aliasing prior to rendering my full resolution version on our farm? Thanks, Kaden

To clairfy, I mean to only downrez so I dont have to wait for the render, and the local render would purely be for generating the hair beforehand. |
