I have a figure that is imported to Maya as an Alembic file. There's basically the figure, and then there's the hair cap that are each part of the same alembic file. Can you attach guild hairs to the alembic hair cap? Do I need to bake the haircap itself as it's own alembic file, and then add the figure as a collision object? I'm not sure if it's done this way. I'm just learning about using alembic and I'd love to find the best way of doing this. | |

If you have an animated character imported as alembic and you want to attach an existing Ornatrix hair object to it this is possible with the Ground Strands operator. Obviously the hair cap and the hair object have to be alligned and the hair roots have to be touching the hair cap. I assume that when you say hair cap you meant the scalp mesh from where you want to hair to grow.
