hi there Coming from Yeti and I am getting alot of crashes in Maya 2020 update 4 + Redshift 3.0.38 + Ornatrix 3.1.8.27041 crashes all over but specifically when referencing strands is every time. I did find moving from a 3080 system to a 2080ti system would not crash when referencing strands. Identical OS and drivers. A lot of crashes in Redshift 3.0.38 after i change a parameter that will then crash Maya about 1 min after
can anyone recommend a stable Maya PC system/configuration that works for them. Rendering in Redshift.
Thanks !

Hello, That's really strange. So changing from a 3080 to a 2080ti fixes the crashes? I'm not sure if this is related to Ornatrix, we will have to study your scene. Can you provide steps to reproduce the crash? Check out this page, there we have instructions to help us debug the problem. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)

ok, ill try and find time to do this for you. meantime is there a configuration of Ornatrix and Redshift and maya that people find more stable than others ? This is common in Yeti for certain configurations to be better than others, especially with redshift. Just wondering if ornatrix is the same.

ill try and log the report properly but can confirm 2x nvidia 3 series workstations crash when trying to reference procedural feathers into the scatter object. 1x 2080ti and 1x 980ti workstation work fine with the same scene. You could try your own procedural feather scene and reference this into a scatter object on a 3 series workstation. We use 3080's. You'll want to reference in more than 2 feathers to get a crash, also duplicating the procedural feather in a scene will cause a crash. This is from following Ephere's excellent feather scattering tuts on You tube. So process-wise its directly from you guys and on 3 series GPU It's very very crashy!

There is no special combination of Ornatrix and Redshift. It should work find in the latest versions of Redshift. So, the crash doesn't happen when rendering? It happens in the exact moment when you add the feather to the Scatter node? Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)

Hi, I'm still unable to reproduce this crash. I can add several feather objects to the Scatter node without Maya crashing:
Please send us the crash logs produced by Maya and Ornatrix. They may have useful info. Look for files called
Ornatrix*.log
and
Ornatrix*.dmp
in your
%TEMP%
folder on Windows or
/tmp
on Mac/Linux. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer.
