Starting and Activating Ornatrix
Overview
Once you have installed Ornatrix, you can start using it immediately by launching 3ds Max. If this is your first time installing Ornatrix, you'll need to activate the license, which is an automated process that should take less than a minute. If you've previously activated Ornatrix on the same computer, you won't need to license it again.
Licensing with internet connection
When you use Ornatrix for the first time, you'll encounter an authorization dialog. If you have an active internet connection, the plugin can be activated in the following ways:
- Connect to a License Server.
Use this option if you have previously set up a Floating License Server. It allows you to connect to your floating license server and retrieve a license from it. - License This Computer.
Use this option to install the license on the current workstation. By choosing this option, you are attaching the license to the current computer, and it won't be usable elsewhere without releasing it first. - Online Licensing.
Fill in the IP/Hostname or leave it blank and click "Connect" to retrieve the license online. This option is particularly useful when you want to use a single license on multiple computers and locations, although not simultaneously.
Licensing without internet connection
If you don't have an internet connection, the activation dialog will provide you with a URL link.
- Copy this link to a computer with an internet connection,
- download the executable activator file from our website, and then transfer this file back to the computer where Ornatrix is installed.
- Run the activator on that computer to activate the license.
Specifying IP of a floating license server
If you are using a floating license server, you can specify its IP address on your local network to enable Ornatrix to run. You can configure this through the activation dialog, which appears when you try to access the Ornatrix graphical user interface (GUI).
- The IP address is stored in a file called Ornatrix3dsmaxLicenseServerIP.txt located at C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local by default.
- You can change the location of this file by adding a ORNATRIX3DSMAX_LICENSE_SERVER_IP_PATH environment variable and specifying the file path there.
